Em Dash Remover

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 15, 2026

The short version: the text you paste into Em Dash Remover never leaves your device. All text processing happens locally in your browser. We don't upload, store, or log the content you clean. You can verify this: open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and watch — there are no requests while you clean text. The tool even works with your internet turned off.

This page explains, in full, what limited data the website itself involves (cookies, analytics, and advertising) so you can make informed choices.

1. Text you process

Any text you enter into the cleaner is processed entirely client-side (in your browser). It is never transmitted to us or any third party, and we keep no copies.

2. Local storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember your preferences — your chosen cleanup options, theme, and cookie-consent choice — so the tool behaves the way you like next time. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can clear it any time via your browser settings.

3. Cookies

The core tool does not require cookies to function. Cookies on this site come from two optional sources, both of which depend on your consent: analytics and advertising (described below). When you first visit, you can Accept or Decline these via our cookie banner, and change your choice anytime through the Cookie settings link in the footer. See our Cookie Policy for details.

4. Advertising & Google AdSense

We may display advertising served by Google AdSense to keep this tool free. The following disclosures are required by Google:

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we use a Google-certified consent management platform and Google Consent Mode so that personalised advertising and analytics cookies are only used after you give consent. Until you consent, ads (if shown) are limited and non-personalised.

5. Analytics

We may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand aggregate traffic (such as page views and referrers). These tools do not receive the text you process. Where analytics rely on cookies, they are loaded only after you consent.

6. Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. Because we don't collect or store your text or build user profiles ourselves, most personal data on this site is handled by the third parties named above under their own policies (see Google's Privacy Policy). You can exercise consent choices at any time via the cookie banner.

7. Your rights (CCPA / California)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell your personal information. You can limit advertising cookies using the opt-out links in section 4 or by declining via our cookie banner.

8. Children's privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
