Em Dash Remover is a free tool that cleans the tell-tale signs of AI-generated writing out of your text — em dashes (—), curly quotes, invisible "watermark" characters, leftover markdown, and the clichéd phrasing that makes writing read like a chatbot.
Why we built it
AI writing assistants are everywhere, and they leave fingerprints. The most famous is the em dash: models reach for it far more than most human writers do. Existing tools mostly do a blind find-and-replace — turning every em dash into a comma — which quietly breaks your grammar and creates comma splices.
We thought writers deserved better. So we built an engine that looks at the sentence around each em dash and chooses the right fix — a comma, semicolon, colon, period, or parentheses — so your writing stays correct, not just dash-free.
